Tata Teleservices Q4 Loss Narrows

Tata Teleservices Maharashtra Ltd. reported fourth-quarter stand-alone net loss of Rs.123.40 crore or Re.0.65 per share, compared with a net loss of Rs.330.49 crore or Re.0.42 per share in the fourth-quarter in 2011.

Quarterly net income from operations rose by 13 percent to Rs.647.70 crore from the Rs.575.46 crore for the corresponding period last year. Other operating income totaled Rs.3.81 crore, down from the Rs.4.03 crore in the year-ago quarter., while other income stood at Rs.8.68 crore, compared with Rs.6.86 crore in the year-ago quarter.

The company said it maintained a strong focus on wireless broadband services. Its VAS and data income during the quarter under review accounted for 33 percent of total wireless income.

For the twelve months, Tata Teleservices posted a net profit of Rs. crore, compared with Rs. crore in the corresponding period in 2011. Total income, including other operating income and sales of investment, fell by 20 percent rose to Rs.2,488.44 crore from the Rs.3,128.24 crore in Apr-Mar 2011 period.

At the BSE, Tata Teleservices closed Friday's trading at Rs.13.29, down 1.26 percent from the previous close.
