Adele's 21 has overtaken Michael Jackson's Thriller to become the fifth best selling album in U.K. history. Addy's sophomore effort has sold 4,274,300 copies, which puts her ahead of Jacko by 500.
"To add to her many landmark records, Adele's achievement in overtaking Thriller in the all-time sales list is truly remarkable," comments the Official Charts Company's managing director Martin Talbot.
"Thriller has long been recognized as one of the most iconic albums of all time - there is now no doubt that 21 can be spoken of in the same breath."
Number one on the same list is Queen's Greatest Hits, in the second spot is the Beatles' Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, third is Abba's Gold and rounding out the top four is Oasis' (What's the Story) Morning Glory?.
