At Least 12 Killed In Thailand Petrochemical Plant Blast

Explosions and fire at a petrochemical plant in eastern Thailand on Saturday killed at least 12 people and injured above 100, reports said.

The blaze followed the evacuation of thousands of people, including workers and residents, near the Map Ta Phut industrial estate, Thailand's industrial park in Rayong province.

Reports noted that the explosions took place at a unit of Bangkok Synthetics Co. followed by the fire. The fire was put under control in early Sunday morning.

Authorities have started investigation about the cause of explosion.
