Spain March Industrial Production Declines Sharply

Spain's industrial output dropped for the seventh consecutive month in March, data from the statistical office INE revealed Monday.

Industrial production fell 10.4 percent year-on-year, sharper than the 3.2 percent drop logged in February. On a calendar adjusted basis, production was down 7.5 percent compared to a 5.3 percent decrease a month ago.

Consumer goods output decreased by adjusted 4.5 percent, and durable consumer goods production dipped 10.2 percent. Production of capital goods and intermediate goods plunged 11.2 percent and 10.2 percent, respectively. Meanwhile, the decrease in energy output slowed to 1.7 percent.
