New York-based insurer American Independence Corp. (AMIC) reported first-quarter net income attributable to the company of $1.1 million or $0.14 per share, compared to 937 thousand or $0.11 per share last year.
Excluding items, the company's operating income for the quarter was $1.59 million or $0.19 per share, up from $1.45 million or $0.17 per share in the prior year quarter.
Revenues for the quarter increased to $22.23 million from $21.72 million in the comparable quarter last year, primarily due to an increase in premiums.
