Mary J. Blige has released the video for "Why" the most recent single from her My Life II . . . the Journey Continues (Act 1). The track and vid feature an assist by Rick Ross.
In the Colin Tilley directed video, the Queen of Hip Hop Soul bemoans a fizzling romance and goes out for a night on the town with her gal pals; later on, she hooks up with Rizzy.
The pair go high-pro, decked out in white and plopped into fancy settings—Mary J. handles the situations with perfunctory energy, while Ross smokes a cigar.
"I got her lookin' at me sideways / live every night like its Friday," he raps. "I know you're fed up, so am I," MJB sings during a tender moment. "But we just can't say goodbye," she adds to her sleeping lover, bringing the emotional counterpoint to a rhyming close.
