TSX Jumps At Open Friday

Bay Street stocks moved at open Friday amid buying across a variety of sectors, with the S&P/TSX Composite Index adding 66.28 points or 0.58 percent to 11,396.96.

The Global Gold Index extended gains, adding over 2 percent. Agnico-Eagle Mines (AEM.TO), Iamgold (IMG.TO) and Detour Gold (DGC.TO) were up nearly 4 percent each.

Kirkland Lake Gold (KGI.TO) rose over 5 percent.

Among base-metals stocks, First Quantum Minerals (FM.TO) rose over 3 percent, while Inmet Mining (IMN.TO) was adding close to 2 percent.

In the oil patch, Vermilion Energy (VET.TO) and Niko Resources (NKO.TO) moved up nearly to 2 percent each.

Meanwhile, wood and wood by-products company Goodfellow Inc. (GDL.TO) lost 5 percent.
