Canadian Food Regulator Issues Alert Against Some Salads - Quick Facts

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency or CFIA on Sunday warned the public as well as various importers, distributors, retailers and food service establishments not to serve or consume some salads as they may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.

This is a part of the larger recall of retail and foodservice salads initiated by River Ranch Fresh Foods, LLC, California, USA with distribution in Canada.

The salad products affected by this alert include River Ranch's American Style Iceberg & Romaine 340 gm, Classic Garden 454 gm, Three-Color Cole Slaw
Mix and Chopped Iceberg w/Color, among others. The alert also includes some Sysco Natural Brand Salads.

The smaller size retail packages of salads have Best Before dates between 12 May and 22 May. The larger size packages of salads sold to foodservice have Julian dates between 116 - 125.

These products may have been distributed nationally.
