Opto Circuits (India) Ltd., manufacturer of electronic devises and health care products, reported a robust growth in its consolidated net profit for the fourth-quarter on increased income from operations. On stand-alone basis, the company reported lower net profit for the quarter.
Consolidated Results
The Bangalore-based company said its consolidated net profit for the fourth-quarter jumped by 89 percent to Rs.209.35 crore or Rs.8.64 per share from the Rs.111.06 crore or Rs.4.58 per share in the corresponding quarter last year.
Net income from operations for the quarter increased by 22 percent to Rs.662.70 crore from the Rs.544.55 crore in the year-ago quarter, while other operating income stood at Rs.17.99 crore, compared with Rs.18.67 crore in Q4FY11.
During the quarter, income from 'Health Care' segment was Rs.2,337.70 crore, while that from 'Information Technology, was Rs.18.06 crore, Income for the quarter from 'Others' segment stood at Rs.14.66 crore.
For the fiscal year, the company's consolidated net profit rose by 56 percent to Rs.571.88 crore from the Rs.367.25 crore a year-ago. Total income, including other operating income was Rs.2,369.64 crore, up by 47 percent from the Rs.1,615.80 crore last year.
Stand-alone Results
Opto Circuits reported fourth-quarter stand-alone net profit of Rs.59.62 crore or Rs.2.46 per share, compared with Rs.80.08 crore or Rs.3.30 per share in the fourth-quarter of 2011. Net profit and earnings per share fell by 26 percent and 25 percent, respectively.
Its quarterly net income from operations rose by six percent to Rs.184.85 crore from the Rs.173.62 crore in the year-ago quarter, while other operating income totaled Rs.15.63 crore, compared with Rs.30.59 crore in Q4FY11.
For the fiscal year, its stand-alone net profit declined by four percent to Rs.234.77 crore from the Rs.244.38 crore last year. Total income from operations, including other operating income, increased by five percent to Rs.671.08 crore from the Rs.639.27 crore last year.
The company's board recommended a dividend of Rs.3.00 per equity share of Rs.10 each for the fiscal year 2012.
At the BSE, Opto Circuits closed Tuesday's trading at Rs.174.25, down by 0.06 percent from the previous close.
