A new ride based on Michael Bay's hit "Transformers" film franchise is set to open at Universal Studios Hollywood. The ride, called "Transformers: The Ride - 3D," takes passengers inside a Transformer for a fast-paced trip through the city streets.
With a hefty $100 million price tag the ride features unprecedented features, including 3D imaging rendered on large-screen televisions throughout the ride.
"We realized early in the process that we couldn't get them to do the things we wanted them to do fast or realistic enough to match the excitement of the Bay films. We instead decided to go with a multimedia approach and match 3-D footage with intricate set work, so it doesn't feel like you're just going from screen to screen to screen," Universal studios producer Chick Russell tells the New York Post.
Visuals for the ride were also produced by Jeff White, who created visual effects for the film.
