The FDA announced a recall on May 22 of packaged baby spinach products in California due to possible salmonella contamination. The products include Taylor Farms brand Private Selections and Marketside organic baby spinach in 10 oz. and 5 oz. clamshell pack containers.

The products were distributed by Taylor Farms between May 9, 2012 and May 10, 2012 and have a "Best By" date of May 25, 2012. They also hold a UPC code of 0-11110-91128-5 and 6-8113132900-2. A random sample tested by the company was positive for the bacteria.

"There have been no reported illnesses attributed to the recalled items. The 'Best By' Code Date for the recalled products can be located on the lower right portion of the front label," an FDA news release stated.

"No other products or code dates are affected by this recall. The company is cooperating with the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and California Department of Public Health (CDPH) regarding this recall," the release added.
