Joe Nichols has split with his label Show Dog-Universal Music. The country singer announced the news on Twitter, saying: "I'd like to thank ShowDog universal for doing the right thing. I'M FREE!!!!!"
Nichols went on to explain that the newfound freedom would allow him to pursue creative freedom under with the label of his choosing.
"My plans are to make a record with people I trust and love and be at a happy home (label)," he added. "Haven't felt this good about things in a long time."
Despite his excitement over parting ways with Show Dog-Universal Music, Nichols says that he holds no grudge against the label.
"Just 2 be clear, I'm VERY thankful 4 showdog and what they have done 4 me," he tweeted. "Our relationship has just reached its limits and I wish them luck."
According to Show Dog-Universal's official website, the label still retains the talents of country stars Toby Keith, Trace Adkins, Carter's Chord, JT Hodges, Jessie James and Rose Falcon.
