Croatia's merchandise trade deficit decreased from the previous month in April, data released by the Croatian Bureau of Statistics showed Thursday.
The trade deficit declined to EUR622.50 million in April from EUR659.03 million in March. In April 2011, the trade balance was a deficit of EUR474.78 milliion.
Export of goods fell sharply to EUR727.50 million in April from EUR903.64 million in the previous month, while imports dropped to EUR1.35 billion from EUR1.563 billion.
In the January-April period, the trade balance was a deficit of EUR2.285 billion. The value of shipments decreased 5 percent year-on-year during the four-month period , while arrivals increased by 0.7 percent, the agency said.
