David Nail broke a finger at the City of Hope celebrity softball game on Saturday, June 9. The injury came as Nail, former recipient of a college baseball scholarship, bumbled a play in the field.

Nail hit Twitter from the hospital with his bandaged wrist and hand, adding, "Gonna be one handed for awhile!"

"Thanks for the concern, this is a lesson to not play like you're 18 when you're 33! Fingers crossed for no nerve damage," he said in response to well-wishes from fans.

Before the injury, reports MSN, Nail made four of the morning's most memorable catches.

The City of Hope softball game, which also included appearances by Carrie Underwood, Scotty McCreery, Robin Meade and Jessie James, raised money for cancer research.
