United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has been named winner of this year's Seoul Peace Prize for his humanitarian contributions such as promotion of women's and children's rights as well as his efforts to eliminate poverty in developing nations, the Seoul Prize Cultural Foundation told a press conference on Tuesday.
Ban is the first South Korean to win the award of $200,000 since it was established in 1990 to recognize the peace initiatives of politicians, academics, civic activists and international organizations, South Korean media reported.
