The Who and George Michael will perform at the 2012 London Olympics closing ceremonies, says a report from UK newspaper The Mirror.

The Olympics organizers said in a statement that they wanted "four major artists, representing Britain over the past 50 years, to headline." The Who represents the "swinging 60s," while George Michael, a "global icon" represents the 1980s.

Other acts on the bill include boy band Take That, who represent the 1990s, and rising pop star Emilie Sande.

"The gig will be a fitting Olympics send-off," the organizers concluded. The concert will take place August 12 at London's Olympic Park.

There's also a second concert celebrating the end of the Olympic Games taking place in Hyde Park featuring Blur, New Order and the Specials the same day.
