Philippines' unemployment rate decreased from last year in April, data released by the National Statistics Office showed Friday.
The unemployment rate for April this year was 6.9 percent, lower than 7.2 percent recorded in April 2011. The underemployment rate edged down to 19.3 percent during the month from 19.4 percent a year earlier.
The employment rate, meanwhile, increased to 93.1 percent in April from 92.8 percent last year. The labor force participation rate was 64.7 percent, compared to 64.2 percent seen in the same month last year.
