Jimi Hendrix And Jim Morrison Holograms In The Works

The estates of both Jimi Hendrix and Jim Morrison are reportedly making plans to have holograms created of the legendary rock stars. According to Jeff Jampol, who manages the estates of both artists, they are merely waiting for the technology to take one critical step before bringing the legends back to the stage.

"We're trying to get to a point where 3-D characters will walk around," Jampol tells Billboard. "Hopefully, Jim Morrison will be able to walk right up to you, look you in the eye, sing right at you and then turn around and walk away."

The growing craze of live holograms was sparked off when late rapper Tupac Shakur appeared live onstage via hologram at the recent Coachella Music Festival.

Digital Domain Media created the image and the company's CEO says they're hoping to create a genuine experience with their work:

"This is not repurposing old footage that the world has already seen. We're making totally original and exclusive performances so that fans can have new experiences."
