A Grammy produced Whitney Houston documentary, A Death in the Family: the Show Must Go On, premiered at the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, and gives a look into how the award show put together a Houston tribute in 24 hours following the news of her death.

The doc features interviews with executive producer Ken Ehrlich and host LL Cool J, who said he suggested the show open with a prayer.

"I knew we were in for a rough day and rough night," recalls Ehrlich on his thoughts upon hearing of Houston's death.

After Houston died, the challenge was to "do something that was respectful to Whitney," Ehrlich said, "that set a tone that also didn't lose the fact that there were thousands of people who were coming to this event because they had done something remarkable this year on their own, and they needed to be treated with respect as well."

The documentary is streaming freely through the official Grammy's website.
