Metallica Helping FBI Locate Murder Suspect

Metallica frontman James Hetfield has appeared in a public service video to help locate a murder suspect. The person in question is suspected of the 2009 murder of Virginia Tech student Morgan Harrington, which took place following a Metallica concert in Charlottesville, Virginia.

In the video, Hetfield urges fans to try and recall anything they might have seen that night that could be useful to the FBI in their search for the suspect.

"Remember, any information - no matter how small you might think it is - could be that crucial piece investigators need to help solve the case."

The video has been posted on YouTube and the FBI's website and also displays a sketch of the suspect.

DNA evidence found with Harrington's corpse has been used by the FBI to link her killer to a 2005 sexual assault in Fairfax City, Virginia. Officials fear that the suspect is predatory, and may attack other women if he has not already.

Local police are offering a reward of $100,000 while Metallica themselves have offered an additional $50,000.
