Janis Joplin will get a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame sometime in 2013. Joplin, who died in 1970, has posthumously received several awards including induction to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1995 and a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2005.
Other musical acts joining Joplin in the 2013 class are Jane's Addiction, late R&B singer Luther Vandross and pop stars Jennifer Hudson, Usher Raymond, Thalia, the Backstreet Boys and New Kids on the Block.
"The Walk of Fame committee is proud to announce next year's honorees whose additions to the world famous Hollywood Walk of Fame will bring everlasting memories of their star power, talent, and popularity," said a statement from the committee, who have yet to provide a date for the ceremonies.
The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce meets every year to select about 20 honorees from hundreds of nominations.
