Greek Output Price Inflation Drops To 19-Month Low

Greece's producer price inflation slowed to the lowest level in nineteen months in May, data released by the Hellenic Statistical Authority showed Friday.

The producer price index increased 5 percent year-on-year in May, following the previous month's 5.1 percent gain. The latest growth rate was the smallest since October 2010.

Output prices in the domestic market grew 5.1 percent annually, while prices in the non-domestic market advanced 4.5 percent, data showed.

Energy prices climbed 11.7 percent year-on-year, while prices of non-durable consumer goods rose 1.3 percent. There was a 0.9 percent annual growth in intermediate goods prices during the month, and a 0.3 percent gain in prices of capital goods.

Compared to April, output prices in the industry decreased 1.4 percent in May, faster than the 0.2 percent drop seen in the previous month.
