Watson's Generic Arthrotec Gets FDA Approval

Watson Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (WPI) Wednesday said it has received approval from the U.S Food and Drug Administration on its Abbreviated New Drug Application, or ANDA, for its new generic drug.

The Diclofenac Sodium and Misoprostol Delayed - Release Tablets is a generic equivalent to G.D. Searle's Arthrotec and is used for treating signs and symptoms of osteoarthritis or rheumatoid arthritis.

G.D. Searle's Arthrotec had a total U.S sales of $130 million for the year ended May 31, 2012.
