Anthony Mackie is in talks to join the cast of "Captain America: the Winter Soldier" in the role of Falcon, says The Hollywood Reporter.
Mackie would join Chris Evans (Captain America) in the film as one of the first African-American superheroes. In the comic books the Falcon (a.k.a. Sam Wilson) has an ability to communicate with his pet falcon Redwing, as well as fly with a special suit.
Initially, the Falcon, (a bird-loving Harlem native), was depicted as an honest social worker, but was then retconned as a reformed criminal.
Joe and Anthony Russo are slated to direct the flick, due in theaters April 4, 2014
Marvel revealed several new film projects at this year's Comic-Con: "Ant-Man" test footage, an "Iron Man 3" sizzle reel, confirmation on a "Guardians of the Galaxy" movie arriving in 2014 and a new title for its sequel to "Thor," "Thor: The Dark World."
