Russell Brand will reportedly take the stage at the closing ceremony of the Olympics not as a comedian, but as a singer.

According to a new report from the U.K.'s Daily Star, the comedic bad boy will join Dawn French and Jennifer Saunders to sing covers of the Beatles' "I Am The Walrus" and the Sex Pistols' "Pretty Vacant."

A source close to the Olympic organizing committee says there is some fear about his ability and his image:

"No-one knows if Brand can sing and his drugs past makes him a surprising choice for an occasion that's all about health, sport and keeping fit. He could well clear the stadium."

The choice is surprising not only because of Brand's lack of experience but also because of his recent tirade against the games. Speaking with Conan O'Brien, he criticized the organizational capacity of the British:

"I like England and I am from there. But when it involves organisation it is going to be a right balls up. Things will catch fire and people will be tripping over things, then it start raining and the Queen will do a fart."
