Switzerland's watch exports in June grew at the strongest pace in the first six months of 2012, the Federation of the Swiss Watch Industry FH showed Thursday.

Watch exports rose 21.7 percent in June from a year ago to CHF 1.9 billion. The first half-year surpassed CHF 10 billion, an increase of 16.4 percent compared to 2011.

However, a slowdown in growth is expected at the end of 2012, it said. Data showed that Swiss watch exports to Hong Kong and the U.S. registered an above-average increase.

Meanwhile, China suffered from a particularly unfavorable base effect and consequently registered a decline. Europe bounced back, thanks in particular to very strong growth in Germany.
