Actor Fred Willard was arrested for a lewd act this past Wednesday night in an adult theater in Los Angeles. The "Best in Show" star was nabbed by uniformed vice officers who were conducting a routine investigation at the theater and found Willard engaged in a legally lewd act, Los Angeles police indicated.

As of Friday, no charges had been officially filed, but the 72-year-old actor's lawyer says that his client is innocent and they will be fighting any charges if they are filed. "With all due respect to the individual officer, our belief [is] that Fred did nothing in any violation of any law. We will be working vigorously to clear his name in this matter," said Willard's lawyer, Paul Takakjian, in a statement to The Los Angeles Times.

Even if Williard's name is ultimately cleared, he has already been fired from his narrator duties on PBS's new "Market Warriors" series.

Willard has been nominated four times for Emmys for guest roles on TV's "Modern Family" and "Everybody Loves Raymond." Willard's movie credits include "Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy," "This is Spinal Tap" and "Wall-E."
