Rupert Murdoch has quit boards of several News Corp. (NWS,NWSA) subsidiaries in U.K, the United States, Australia and India. Murdoch has quit directorships at NI Group Ltd, NewsCorp Investments and Times Newspaper Holdings, according to several media reports.
The resignations follow the announcement in June that News Corp plans to pursue the separation of its publishing and entertainment businesses into two distinct publicly-traded companies. The company expects to complete the separation in about 12 months. Upon closing of the proposed transaction, Rupert Murdoch will serve as chairman of both companies and CEO of the media and entertainment company.
