Italy's Non-EU Trade Balance Turns To Surplus In June

Italy's trade with countries outside the European Union moved to a surplus in June, a report from statistical office Istat showed Tuesday.

The trade balance showed a surplus of EUR 1.52 billion in June compared with a deficit of EUR 1.389 billion in the same month of 2011.

On an annual basis, exports to non-EU countries increased 12.4 percent and imports decreased 7.1 percent. In seasonally-adjusted terms, exports fell 2.8 percent month-on-month and imports dropped 5.9 percent.

In the first half of 2012, exports to non-EU countries increased 9.9 percent. Imports decreased 3.8 percent while the trade balance registered a deficit of EUR 5.22 billion.
