The loveable yellow Minions from "Despicable Me" are reportedly set to take center stage in their own spin-off film. According to Deadline.com, producer Pierre Coffin has linked up with "Puss In Boots" writer Brian Lynch and "The Lorax" co-director "Kyle Balda" for the project.
The film is reportedly slated to hit cinemas in 2014, roughly a year after Gru returns next summer. The film is slated to drop on July 3, 2013 and will find Steve Carell's character squaring off against a new evil genius voiced by Al Pacino.
Lynch describes the spin-off's premise as a film that follows "the antics of the yellow fellows as they interact with human characters." The new film will also reportedly introduce some new characters and plot angles that have not yet been covered in the franchise.
