Jennifer Hudson has signed on to star in the upcoming film The Inevitable Defeat of Mister and Pete from director George Tillman Jr., according to Deadline.
J-Hud joins a growing cast of stars which includes Jordin Sparks, Anthony Mackie and Jeffrey Wright for the indie drama about two children who are left to their own devices after their mothers are taken into government custody.
Both Hudson and Sparks, who imdb.com speculates will play the role of the childrens' mothers, were discovered by American Idol, with Sparks named the sixth season winner.
J-Hud has starred in such films as "Winnie" and "The Secret Life of Bees," while Sparks' acting debut will be "Sparkle," due August 17.
Michael Starrbury wrote the script for the film which is currently in production in Brooklyn, New York.
