TripAdvisor, Inc. (TRIP) Tuesday said its second-quarter net income was $53.0 million or $0.37 per share, compared to $54.1 million or $0.41 per share in the year-ago period.
Adjusted earnings for the quarter were $58.9 million or $0.41 per share, compared to $56.7 million or $0.43 per share last year. On average, 16 analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to earn $0.41 per share for the second quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.
Second-quarter revenues increased 16 percent to $197.15 million from $169.24 million in the comparable quarter last year, while analysts expected revenues of $202.78m million for the quarter.
