Knight Transportation Q2 Profit Rises

Truckload transportation company Knight Transportation, Inc. (KNX) reported second-quarter net income attributable to the company of $19.3 million or $0.24 per share, up from last year's $16.4 million or $0.20 per share in the comparable quarter.

On average, 24 analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to earn $0.23 per share for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

Total revenue for the latest quarter rose 3.4 percent to $236.3 million from $228.5 million a year ago. Revenue before fuel surcharge increased 3.6 percent to $188.8 million compared to $182.4 million in the same period of 2011.

Seventeen analysts had a consensus revenue estimate of $245.97 million for the quarter.
