Cincinnati Financial Turns To Profit In Q2

Cincinnati Financial Corp. (CINF) reported that its second-quarter 2012 net income was $32 million, or $0.20 per share, compared to a net loss of $50 million or $0.31 per share in the second quarter of 2011.

Operating income for the quarter was $28 million, or $0.17 per share, compared to an operating loss of $94 million or $0.58 per share in the comparable quarter last year.

Total revenues for the quarter rose 5% to $1.02 billion from $975 million in the prior year quarter.

On average, analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to report earnings of $0.11 per share on revenues of $991.03 million for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.
