Blur frontman Damon Albarn says that the high profile build up to the London 2012 Olympics makes him feel as though he is "drowning in commercialism."

The group is scheduled to headline an Olympic closing ceremony gig in Hyde Park on August 12, which Albarn said would be "for the human beings" celebrating the Games and not the corporations behind it.

"I'm just anti the capitalism of it all," he told The Sun. "We're not doing the gig for the corporate side of the Olympics, we're doing it for the human beings. It feels like you're drowning in commercialism at the moment. It's depressing."

Prior to the Olympic event, the group will play four shows, beginning at Margate's Winter Gardens on August 1. They will then play two shows at Wolverhampton's Civic Hall on August 5 and 6, before finishing off at Plymouth's Pavilions on August 7.
