Green Day have written a new track called simply "Amy," in memory of the late Amy Winehouse. The song is the last track on Dos!, the second installment in the band's forthcoming album trilogy.

"I didn't know [Winehouse]. I just thought it was a real tragic loss. I thought her music and her taste in music was so connected to old soul music . . . the original Motown and Otis Redding and Sam Cooke and things like that," Billie Joe Armstrong told NME of the song.

"And I think that was a major loss, because that was a generation's connection to that, and this was someone who should be here now. I just felt really sad," he added.

The first LP in the upcoming trilogy, Uno!, hits September 25, the second, Dos!, November 13 and the third, Tre!, January 15, 2013.
