Jake Lacy ("Better with You") has joined the cast of "The Office" for its upcoming season nine. According to Entertainment Weekly, the actor will play a new addition to the office, Pete, who may also be a love interest to Erin (Ellie Kemper).
"Not only am I the new guy who has to do the coffee runs, but it's a paper company, so pretty much a non-stop adrenaline rush," Pete says in a preview scene.
With the show entering its ninth season, NBC Entertainment chairman Bob Greenblatt told reporters last month that despite the loss of so many of the show's original stars, including Steve Carrell who left two seasons ago, the show will deliver some "explosive story twists" in the upcoming season to keep fans interested in the show.
Despite a 15% ratings sink in its eighth season, "The Office" is the highest-rated comedy on NBC.
