Midsouth Bancorp Inc. (MSL) Monday said its second-quarter profit available to common shareholders increased to $2.1 million or $0.20 per share from $1.1 million or $0.10 per share in the same period last year.
On average, four analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to earn $0.25 per share for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.
Net-interest income increased 31.1 percent to $13.8 million from $10.5 million last year. Non-interest income totaled $4 million, up from $3.2 million last year.
Provision for loan losses decreased to $575 thousand from $900 thousand last year.
