Toby Keith has reportedly turned down an offer to take Steven Tyler's place on the upcoming season of American Idol. According to a report from California's Inland Empire Weekly, he was approached by the show shortly after Tyler's departure.
According to the source, Keith was an ideal candidate because of his outspoken nature and proven track record of making hits. He opted out of the lucrative offer, however, fearing that it might take too much of his time away from touring and making music.
The news comes at a busy time for Keith, who released the new single from his upcoming album earlier this month. The lead single, "I Like Girls That Drink Beer," hit radio and digital outlets on July 24.
