Deltek Inc (PROJ: Quote) Tuesday reported a profit for the second quarter compared to a loss last year, driven mainly by lower operating expenses.
The Herndon, Virginia-based company's second-quarter net profit was $4.24 million or $0.06 per share, compared to a net loss of $2.96 million or $0.05 per share last year.
Adjusted income for the quarter rose to $9.49 million or $0.14 per share from $5.17 million or $0.08 per share in the prior-year quarter. On average, three analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to earn $0.13 per share for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.
Total revenues for the quarter dropped to $86.02 million from $87.97 million in the prior-year quarter. Three analysts had a consensus revenue estimate of $87.72 million for the quarter.
For the quarter, total operating expenses decreased to $49.51 million from $54.83 million in the year-ago quarter.
