First Solar Inc. (FSLR) reported second quarter non-GAAP net income of $1.65 per share after the bell Wednesday, which topped the consensus estimate of $0.90. The company also increased its full year 2012 EPS forecast to between $4.20 and $4.70, from prior expectations of $4.00 to $4.50. The consensus estimate is for EPS of $3.95.
First Solar gapped open sharply higher Thursday and climbed during the first 45 minutes of trade. The stock was range-bound for the remainder of the session and closed up by 3.13 at $17.93 on the highest volume of the year. First Solar broke out of a range and closed at a 3-month high.
