Dan Aykroyd has revealed that "Ghostbusters 3" is, in fact, in the works, but will move ahead without Bill Murray. During a recent interview with Metro the Canadian comic said they've enlisted some new talent on the writing staff to keep the material fresh.

He says they've brought in a "brilliant new writer" adding: "We're working on it to make it just right to satisfy our fans. I'm confident we'll be in production in the next year."

Murray's involvement has been in question since rumors of the film surfaced and when asked about his former co-star, Dan added: "No, I can tell you he won't be involved."

"It's sad but we're passing it on to a new generation. Ghostbusters 3 can be a successful movie without Bill," he adds. "My preference would be to have him involved but at this point he doesn't seem to be coming and we have to move on. It's time to make the third one."
