Reese Witherspoon has reportedly signed on to produce a new romantic comedy title "The Beard." Thus far details about the project are slim, but hollywoodreporter.com notes that the film will center on a woman who poses as the date of a gay man so he can appear straight.
Witherspoon is also rumored for the starring role in the film, which was picked up by Chernin Entertainment on spec from writer Becca Green. Reese will co-produce the project with Peter Chernin. Thus far no other possible stars or plot points have been revealed.
The news comes at a busy time for Reese, who is currently shooting "Devil's Knot" with Colin Firth. That film centers on the murder case surrounding the West Memphis Three. She also recently wrapped production on an indie drama titled "Mud" co-starring Matthew McConaughey.
