Rumors are swirling that Ne-Yo was offered the role of Martin Luther King in an upcoming biopic but turned it down because he didn't want to gain weight for the film. However, during a recent radio interview the "Lazy Love" hit maker explained that it was his commitment to the upcoming R.E.D. album that put him off the role.
"It wasn't even so much about the weight gain, it was more that, that's a role for an actor . . . You can't half-a** Martin Luther King. If you're gonna do that you've got to give it 100%."
During a recent appearance on Good Morning America Ne-Yo also noted that film roles are not the only sacrifices he makes for his music:
"I'm missing milestones as we speak, not that I don't love being here with y'all, but my daughter just said her first full sentence and I'm not there, so that sucks a little bit."
