Cimarex Energy Co. (XEC) announced with profound sadness the death of 76-year old F.H. Merelli, chairman of the company.

Thomas Jorden, Cimarex's chief executive officer and president, said, "On behalf of the Board of Directors and the employees of Cimarex, we extend our deepest sympathies to Mick's family and friends and the many colleagues whose lives he touched. Words cannot express the debt of gratitude that Cimarex owes Mick Merelli, our founder, mentor, and friend.
