Fans of the Who and the Kinks' Ray Davies became angered on Sunday night when their 2012 London Olympic closing performances were bumped from NBC primetime coverage.
The network showed two and a half hours of the closing ceremony, although when trimming down the coverage they chose to cut the Who's four-song set and Davies' rendition of "Waterloo Sunset." In addition, performances from Muse and Kate Bush were also missed. In place of these performances NBC decided to show a preview of their new comedy, Animal Practice.
Viewers of the telecast used social media to lash out and express their disappointments using several hashtags, such as #NBCfail and #closingceremonies.
This isn't the first time an act that spectators were looking forward to seeing was taken out of the broadcast. During the opening ceremony performances by the Arctic Monkeys and many other artists were skipped over being replaced with advertisements.
