Nicki Minaj has elected to abstain from performing at U.K.'s V Festival after damaging her vocal cords. The rapper was warned by doctors to not play a mini-concert on the Today Show (August 14), but played regardless further damaging her already fragile throat.

"Due to on-going vocal issues, Nicki Minaj is unable to play this year's V Festival . . . Miss Minaj's band and crew have all arrived in the U.K. ahead of the performance at the festival this weekend, however as the artist herself boarded her flight from New York on Friday 17th August, she felt unwell again," a rep for the fest explained.

"Having revisited her doctor she has now been advised to rest for a week, which unfortunately means that she is no longer able to perform at V Festival."

Minaj's doctors have asked that she give her cords a few days to rest.
