Entering into its sixth season, MTV has chosen to pull the plug on "Jersey Shore" at the conclusion of its sixth season.
The final season of the show recently wrapped production and will debut Thursday, October 4.
The sixth season will not portray that the show is coming to an end, since the crew was not informed that the show was officially over until today.
The network is also airing a retrospective "Jersey Shore" special titled "Gym, Tan, Look Back" that will include a first look at the final season. The special will air before the Video Music Awards on Thursday, September 6.
The shore cast will also be making an appearance on the red carpet at the VMA's pre-show.
