Bob Dylan has released the video for "Duquesne Whistle," the first single from his forthcoming album, Tempest.

The vid, directed by Nash Edgerton (who also directed Dylan's "Must Be Santa Claus"), features the story of a young man infatuated with a pretty girl.

Things get out of hand, however, when after stealing a rose from a street vendor, the young man is abducted by some vengeful thugs who beat him up.

"I wanted to make something more religious," Dylan told Rolling Stone of the new album. "I just didn't have enough [religious songs]. Intentionally, specifically religious songs is what I wanted to do. That takes a lot more concentration to pull that off 10 times with the same thread - than it does with a record like I ended up with."

The Tempest was recorded in Jackson Browne's studio in L.A. with Dylan's touring band; it is due on September 11.
