Katie Couric Scores High Ratings With Return To Daytime TV

"Katie," the new daytime talk show from former "CBS Evening News" anchor Katie Couric, scooped up the highest ratings for a syndicated talk show premiere in over ten years.

Couric chatted with Jessica Simpson and Sheryl Crow on the debut episode, garnering an estimated 1.535 million viewers from the top 56 U.S. markets. In addition, she won her timeslot in the two largest U.S. markets, New York and Los Angeles.

"Dr. Phil" held the previous record set back in 2002. Since then, there have been 25 daytime talk shows launched. "Katie" also outdrew "Steve Harvey" by 87%, "Jeff Probst" by 150% and "Ricki Lake" by a whopping 250%.

"Katie" airs on ABC daily at 4 PM EST.
